Profile of Prof. Dr. M. Khademul Islam

Dr. Khademul is a senior member of Bangladesh Civil Service (General Education) cadre and started his career as a lecturer in Physics in 1993. He possesses a good educational and research background that could be an asset to any educational institution. He obtained B.Sc. (Honors, 1991) and M.Sc. (1992) in Physics where subsidiary courses were Mathematics and Chemistry. After successful completion of M.Phil. Part (I), he earned Ph.D. degree (2005) in an emerging and challenging area of Plasma Physics entitled ‘Waves and instabilities in magnetized streaming dusty plasmas’ from Jahangirnagar University under the active guidance of Prof. M. Salimullah. In 2016, aspirant also received M.Ed. degree and merited top position at Dhaka Teachers’ Training College centre affiliated with Bangladesh Open University. He also completed Master of Education (Part I & II) from University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC). Dr. Khademul gained almost 27 years of teaching, training and research experiences. He successfully completed six-month long intensive training program on ‘Assessment System’ where he was enlightened as Visiting Fellow (2003) in the University of Melbourne, Australia.

 

As a resource person on Creative Question and School Based Assessment (SBA), he had an opportunity to contribute to the examination reforms at national level for secondary education under Secondary Education Sector Improvement Project (2003-2007). He particularly played a leading role in curriculum development, teachers training and skill based item creation (MCQ and Structured) for science stream while he was working at Bangladesh Examination Development Unit (BEDU) under Dhaka Education Board. As part of training on Secondary School Management, he also visited University of Alabama and Fordham University of USA in 2016. In 2007, Dr. Khademul coherently received two Post-Doctoral Fellowships together. First one was from Matsumae International Foundation (Japan) and other one was from South Africa.  Dr. Khademul pursued a Post-Doctoral research in Plasma Physics for two years (2007-2008) in the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Last ten years from 2010 to 2020, Dr. Khademul served NAEM as a ‘Training Specialist’ where he got the opportunity to build him as a change agent in education.

He attended a good number of Physics conferences home and abroad, and authored a number of research articles in the international physics journals.
